About Our Head Start Centers Upbring Head Start Preschool provides a safe, inclusive place to learn, grow and thrive.
The families receive support and services to complement the child’s education as the kindergarten transition nears.
What You'll Do The Center Floater is responsible for supporting the Center Director with daily program needs in the implementation and coordination of all Head Start and Early Head Start functions both inside and outside of the classroom.

Responsibilities: We Are Warriors | We Set the Standards for Child Education Work Standards Identify report and provide supportive services in child abuse/neglect cases, notifying immediate supervisor and appropriate state agency Assist in the implementation of weekly lesson plans Ensure all children are always properly supervised indoors and outdoors, taking appropriate safety precautions for the well-being of all children as directed Assist with all child assessments and screenings Attend workshops, conferences, in-service trainings, and all required trainings and webinars Participate in professional development activities Maintain training hours and documentation as required Assist in maintaining staff and child ratio for safety, guidance, discipline, and active supervision Handle all Head Start/Early Head Start children(s), families and staff’s information with utmost confidentiality Report suspected child abuse/neglect to immediate supervisor and fulfill role as a mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect Policy Abide by all Head Start, Early Head Start and Upbring policies and procedures Staff will be responsible for daily cleaning after all meals and snacks, end of day activities while in the classroom as well as cleaning restrooms, and entire facility Assist with other job duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other leadership staff Staff must not use/impose corporal punishment or other forms of child maltreatment as a method to discipline children Comply with the company code of conduct and other applicable regulations and requirements, including Licensing Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), Upbring policies, and procedures, Child Care Minimum Standards, DFPS, OHS regulations and standards and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and laws Always ensure the health and safety of each child in care, and support the overall well-being of children Assist in collection and accurate documentation of monthly non-federal in-kind form We Are Servants | We Help Others Teamwork Seek guidance and support from supervisor for any workplace concerns: inclusive but not limited to classroom management, behavior management, child health and safety, child development, and any other concerns that may require intervention Assist the teacher in a Head Start/Early Head Start preschool setting, which provides a comprehensive program to meet educational, emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of children Assist the teacher in maintaining a safe, clean, learning environment and ensuring the well-being and safety of all the children in care Assist Center Director with monthly center safety drills and checklists Ability to substitute as assigned by immediate supervisor Work closely with other classroom teachers to ensure program operations are supporting and meeting program goals, objectives, and learning outcomes Work as part of the team, exhibit professionalism (commitment, confidence, responsibility, dependability, honesty, ethics, appearance) and a positive attitude with team-mates and supervisor Model and demonstrate a positive attitude and positive working relationships, while maintaining strong ethical boundaries We Are Family | We Are Passionate & Compassionate Building Relationships Advocate for young children and their families Maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with the teacher, teacher assistant, volunteers, parents, and program specialists in planning and implementing activities Develop and maintain strong working relationships with classroom teachers, administrative staff, children, and parents to ensure the children are receiving a quality learning experience Actively participate in exhibiting cultural awareness and sensitivity when interacting with children, parent(s)/guardian(s), staff, and the community Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) OR ability to enroll in a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential program within 30 days of start date, to be completed within six months OR be enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field with a minimum of 15 credit hours in early childhood development/education to be completed within 12 months Preferred Qualifications Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred Current CPR and First Aid certification Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to acquire and maintain up-to-date training/certification in CPR and First Aid within 90-days of employment Must be able to serve and effectively communicate, to the extent feasible, with children and families with no or limited English proficiency Strong interpersonal skills: ability to build a positive rapport with children, parents/guardians, and team members Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, interact with all levels of management in a clear and concise manner Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, requests, and projects and meet deadlines Strong written and verbal communication; able to produce quality well-written documents, reports, and correspondence Ability to work independently and within a team with limited supervision; ability to take initiative Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic Strong computer for long periods.
Position may work in a child facility and have limited exposure to children.
