This is a non-exempt position.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows assigned route to collect solid waste; operates a rear loader vehicle to collect (green) yard waste.
Identifies and tags receptacles that are not in compliance with collection policies; collects out of service carts for repair or replacement.
Cleans and sanitizes trucks; performs minor maintenance as needed; completes daily paperwork.
Participates in cleaning and maintaining the shop and breakroom.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an automated garbage truck throughout the City of Victoria and requires exposure to potentially dangerous machinery, hazardous chemicals and substances, and various outdoor weather conditions.
May be required to climb ladders and lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred AND two (2) years of driving experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Records maintenance and retention practices.
Customer services principles, practices, and etiquette.
Work safety policies, procedures, and practices.
Skill in:
Following written and verbal instructions.
Organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines.
Maintaining accurate logs and records.
Operating a truck safely.
Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a Texas Class B driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement.
