Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer – Pipeline will work with engineers, field technicians and operations specialists in the design, maintenance and implementation of electrical power and instrumentation systems utilized in the operation of natural gas treating, processing and NGL fractionation facility.
Qualified individual will also provide field level technical resources for automation, instrumentation, and control equipment including installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Management of facility low and medium (120/240/480/4160) voltage power distribution equipment including: Maintenance and revision of facility power distribution system drawings, Review of power system component maintenance plans, condition monitoring & diagnostics, Ensuring facility arc flash study is accurately maintained, Analysis of power system load balance & energy delivery capacity, Coordination with electrical provider to ensure integrity and quality of power supply in order to mitigate business interruptions.
Management of back-up and emergency power systems to ensure appropriate systems are provided with back-up / emergency power, and to ensure back-up power equipment is adequate, fault tolerant, and properly maintained.
Specification of new electrical equipment (VFDs, wire / cables, breakers, motor starters, etc.
) for expansion & maintenance projects.
Scope, budget, and execute small capital projects involving automation of facility equipment including, but not limited to compressor packages, process units, pumps, VFDs, and other process utility systems.
Interface with other technical/engineering disciplines to ensure the effective integration of electrical and automation systems to optimize facility operations, safety and environmental protections.
Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrically driven rotating machinery such as VFD’s & large electric motors to diagnose root cause of failure, and formulate corrective actions.
Coordinate & review spare parts management for electrical and instrumentation components.
Provide oversight of system installation, lead commissioning efforts and supplying troubleshooting support for automation / control system projects.
Position Requirements Position Requirements: Experience/specific knowledge: Relevant experience in industrial electrical systems including and not limited to power distribution equipment, VFDs, motor starters, process automation, controls equipment, field instrumentation, and other similar devices.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and diagrams, electrical schematics, piping and instrument drawings (P&IDs), flow charts and cause and effect diagrams.
Proficient in troubleshooting and possession of analytical problem solving skills to diagnosis and resolve complex technical matters.
Experience with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Acrobat, and other computer proficiency required.
Proficient with the required software packages to interface with the various types of equipment utilized at processing and automation locations.
Ability to work safely in challenging environments, including and not limited to high temperature, noise, dust and other industrial / oilfield locations.
Ability to execute job functions efficiently with minimal supervision and the ability to prioritize activities to meet company needs.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Ideal candidate will be able to provide expertise for company management, engineering, and operations staff.
Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Education: 4-year bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.
Will consider equivalent experience.
