Assistant Facility Manager

The growth we’ve seen has driven a need for even more outstanding talent! We are looking for a strategic, operations focused Assistant Facility Manager for our Victoria Facility.
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Assistant Facility Manager is responsible for all elements of the business’s safety, growth, and profitability, including: Economic results (top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability).
Short and long-term growth strategy (optimization and growth of the current business as well as consideration of growth into new products, markets, and geographies).
Safety performance.
Regulatory compliance.
Overall leadership and development of the repair business with a culture of open and inclusive management and communication.
Leadership and development of department supervisors, with a primary focus on cleaning and interior/exterior coatings departments.
Formulating and directing the implementation of short and long-term strategic plans to meet goals that contribute to the growth, profitability, and value of the Repair Business.
Contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
Improving operational management systems and processes by leveraging best practices that guarantee organizational well-being.
Ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations and ensuring that all necessary Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and Association of American Railroads (AAR) activities are defined, planned, and promoted.
Establishment of realistic goals for all functional teams with appropriate measurement and evaluation.
Creating a collaborative environment that inspires high morale and initiative to ensure maximum performance, while lending itself to personal and professional development.
Assuring that the market evaluation and recognition of the VLS Repair Business are that of an attractive, reliable, and credible partner for potential customers needing our services.
Maintaining relationships with local and national government agencies and ensuring the VLS Repair Business is compliant with relevant statutory regulations.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree preferred.
High school diploma with 10+ years’ progressive experience and proven track record in rail car repair or a related industry.
Experience operating and collaborating with a cross-functional management team.
Experience with managing and responsible for P&L Three to four years of Leadership or supervisory experience Knowledge of cleaning high hazardous chemicals/components from rail cars – Preferred Experience operating in competitive and mature business environments that have creatively and strategically approached their target markets to gain a competitive advantage.
Exceptionally strong aptitude and experience for the business with significant experience and aptitude for (commercial) growth A proven safety record and a passion for driving the continuous improvement of the company’s safety program.
