JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Light Equipment Operator assists with the operations of light maintenance and construction equipment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains and inspects vehicles and performs safety checks daily.
Services Brush trucks and makes minor adjustments.
Responsible for preventative maintenance on Brush trucks.
Travels to and from Landfill/Brush site in order to dispose of waste materials.
Directs traffic when necessary.
Operates specialized equipment, such as brush truck.
Drives Brush trucks in order to transport materials to and from worksites.
Loads and unloads materials and equipment.
Responds to off-duty call-in as requested; responds to complaints and work requests from the public.
Prepares worksites and cleans up sites when jobs are complete.
Completes various paperwork to include driving data, landfill, and brush site forms as required.
Participates in the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and shop areas unloads and loads transport trucks and organizes unloaded materials.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed outdoors and requires exposure to inclement weather conditions, potentially dangerous tools, equipment, and machinery, and hazardous chemical.
May be required to traverse uneven surfaces, climb ladders, and lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
High school diploma or GED equivalent AND one (1) year of experience operating light equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Work safety policies, procedures, and practices.
Records maintenance and retention practices and procedures.
Work site safety set up procedures.
Skill in:
Reading, measuring, and calculating types and sizes of materials needed
Organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines.
Using various types of hand tools.
Operating equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a Class B Commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement or obtain license within six (6) months of hire.
