Performs responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems.
May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center.
Work requires contact with governmental and private entities.
Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
ITS Analyst II: Develops and revises new and existing intelligent transportation system(s) (ITS).
Performs responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems.
May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center.
Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities.
Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives.
Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
ITS Analyst III: Develops and revises new and existing intelligent transportation system(s) (ITS).
Performs [highly] responsible technical work including the analysis, design and implementation of automated traffic management systems.
May be responsible for administering information resources and telecommunication hardware/software located within an Intelligent Transportation Operations Center.
Work requires contact with governmental and private entities.
Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives.
Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties: ITS Analyst I: Analyzes, researches and recommends hardware and software needs, including assessing resources utilization and justification.
Assists with planning and scheduling the installation and testing of hardware/software and troubleshooting computer/telecommunication related problems.
Provides technical assistance and support for ITS.
Provides training to users regarding ITS.
Reviews and monitors contracts related to ITS.
Provides technical assistance and inspections in the field as needed.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
ITS Analyst II: Includes all duties listed above in addition to the following: Provides technical direction in the analysis and design of ITS.
ITS Analyst III: Includes all duties listed above in addition to the following: May serve as project leader.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications.
Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Experience: ITS Analyst I: 1 year experience in system analysis, design, computer programming.
(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
ITS Analyst II: 3 years experience in system analysis, design, computer programming.
(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
ITS Analyst III: 4 years experience in system analysis, design, computer programming.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid US driver’s license at the time of application.
